PULAU TIOMAN — In a strategic move to boost the Islamic tourism footprint on Tioman Island, the Pahang Islamic Religious Department (JAIP) organised the Program Taklimat Bimbingan Pensijilan Halal @ Pulau Tioman with the support of Serunai Commerce Sdn. Bhd., who was invited to participate and share its expertise in digital Halal solutions.
A half-day initiative took place on 14th May 2026 at Berjaya Tioman Resort, with the venue sponsored by Berjaya. The program gathered 30 key representatives from 14 prominent hotels and food premises across the island. This collaborative effort marks a major step forward in digitalising Halal operational workflows within the local hospitality sector.

Simplifying the Official Halal Application Process
Securing an official Halal certification can often feel daunting for island-based hospitality operators due to logistical constraints. To address this, JAIP provided an intensive, step-by-step guidance session on navigating the official pathways.
The briefing sessions opened with remarks from Tuan Haji Adnan bin Mamat, Head of the Halal Management Division at JAIP. Following the welcome address, Encik Muhammad Haizad bin Hamad systematically demonstrated how Pahang businesses can seamlessly submit and manage applications through JAKIM’s online MY e-Halal system.
By clarifying general certification requirements and outlining the digital application journey, JAIP aims to boost overall compliance rates across the state. This initiative directly supports regional economic growth and positions Pahang as a premier hub for trusted, Muslim-friendly commerce.

Future-Proofing Hospitality with VH SMART™ and HADIS App
While obtaining a certificate is the first milestone, maintaining daily compliance requires continuous oversight. To bridge this operational gap, Serunai Commerce introduced its signature Digital Halal Ecosystem.
Puan Hasnahwati binti Ibrahim, Head of Sales & Commercial Division at Serunai Commerce, demonstrated how digital platforms revolutionise internal operations. Specifically, she highlighted two interconnected digital tools designed to eliminate tedious manual paperwork:
- VH SMART™ (Digital Halal Assurance System): This powerful management system allows hotels and food businesses to easily manage, update, and track their Halal Assurance System (HAS) digitally.
- Halal Audit Digital Integrated System (HADIS) App: A mobile-friendly application engineered to simplify internal auditing processes. By digitalising internal check-and-balance protocols, operators can identify and fix compliance risks well before official regulatory audits occur.
Consequently, integrating these smart technologies ensures that local food premises can effortlessly sustain their Halal integrity around the clock.

Driving Strategic Local Synergy
The event welcomed Puan Nazratul Azra binti Tukirin from the Tioman Development Authority and Al-Fadhil Tuan Haji Bunyamin bin Abdul Ghani, the Qadhi of Rompin District. Their presence highlights a strong regional commitment to backing Pahang entrepreneurs through ongoing education and modern technology infrastructure.
In addition to regulatory guidance, the program’s commercial execution was heavily backed by strategic corporate collaboration. Notably, the Zaiyadal Group of Companies actively supports Serunai Commerce in driving the business operations, outreach, and market awareness required for this state-wide digital transition.
By merging JAIP’s regulatory oversight with Serunai Commerce’s digital innovation, businesses across Pahang are uniquely equipped to lead by example. Ultimately, combining the official MY e-Halal framework with smart solutions like VH SMART™ creates an elite standard of compliance. Hopefully, promoting authentic Halal standards will significantly assist in elevating regional tourism as well.
